The world building was good. And the story itself was good. George just doesn't know how to write dialog. In fact, during the first movie's production, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford complained about the dialog to the point George HAD to fix it. One common belief, from what I see, is that the Prequel trilogy has loads of clunky dialog because the people working with George at the time were mostly yes men.
