Imgflip as a whole is meant to be a humor site where people can make memes a get a laugh. Of course it's expanded over the years to include numerous streams focused on different topics some not so humorous like politics and your preferred stream dark humor. Look at some of the top users as examples of what memes get noticed, interact with other users, if they comment on your meme reply and upvote them, join other streams and make a variety of memes that a broader audience might enjoy. I'm not sure just posting about rape, stds and suicide is going to get you alot of upvotes or followers. At least that's my 2 cents.
