Fortnite is bad because the only way to get good at the game is to spend money and buy battle packs unlike in minecraft you don't have to pay to be the best you just become the best through skills and talent.

That is fortunately not true. You can be good at the game despite no skin and still be recognized as a good player. Also, they give out tons of free stuff around the holidays, including skins.

Eh, for a while it was, which was one of the things that turned me away as well with the gameplay that doesn't do much for newer players, it just throws the game at you without any real warning.

Well, the best way to do it is to play a practice creative world. Maybe play a 1v1 map with a friend. That's how I got good.
