Well here is what led to our largest coal company's bankruptcy.
Basically a products value(coal) is based on supply and demand and there are several factors at play here.

A Declined need for Steel in a few countrys(a whole other topic) a drop in usage of coal used for electricity (last I checked we dropped our usage by 11%) but the principal reason is China has and is dramatically reducing it's coal purchases on a world scale.

China accounts for roughly half of total global coal demand, as a result they are the driving force behind the coal market's demand.

China's electrical grid is roughly 68% powered by coal and they have moved to be more energy independent by opening up/digging new mines to harvest their own coal and reduce the amount bought off the world market.They are also currently constricting more new coal power plants than the rest of the world combined.

As a result this has caused an over abundance of coal on the world market hence the dramatic price drop of coal on a global scale.

The market will eventually Balance itself out and Murray energy will survive. There's a difference between a company going bankrupt and filling chapter 11 to restructure it's $h!t back together.

PS If the Paris climate agreement that our country had already spent 1 billion on (that China received a portion of)was to help them and other countries reduce carbon emotions while pursuing renewable energies then how did China get away with changing nothing and continuing to make more coal fired power plants?

Hell they probably came up with the term clean coal as they have many of their coal powerplants designated as such.

Just a suggestion... maybe instead of hating on other Americans you should spend some time looking at the world and how we have been getting periodically screwed by the global system.
