I am: the mom friend

We were doing a project on some book, and my friend didn't have one, so I got him one at the library. He left it on the table, thinking the librarian would just pick it up and check it in. Then, the librarian came to me like two months later and was like "this book is super overdue. I am going to need it back tomorrow or else you'll have to pay for it." So I talked to my friend and he had no idea and so it had been obvious that someone took it. My parents were pissed when I asked them for money to pay back.

I really don't know how to respond to that

So this is kind of a short story, I was being overloaded with complaints from my two friends who hate each other, it turned into a full-on war, I kicked out one, I brought him back later, blah blah.
