Old-timey imgflippers griping about how the site's been ruined? Lol. Sounds perfect (for me)!

I hate how all the streams have gone "mainstream" - I liked it better when everything was basically in one stream, divided into Fun and Hot.

I HATE followers.

It was definitely a lot simpler with one main stream and 2-3 submissions

I also enjoyed the freedom of being able to post whatever without worrying about breaking random stream rules.

Followers seems to be a mixed bag. I like the idea of following users to see what they’re posting but the effect it seems to be having on younger people is it’s making them into egotistical little shits. Not to mention the more you check the followers list, the less likely you’re checking latest making the only way to getting popular is to suck up to someone who already made it.

Right, the second thing of what you mentioned is the main problem for me - if people are going by favorite memers, it makes new stuff by unpopular users harder to get seen.

The site already seemed like it had a lot of people upvoting/viewing stuff because of the user rather than the content, and adding Followers just seems like it would make that tendency worse. Plus, I personally just don't like knowing people are following me. It seems stalkerish. Why can't people just stick with checking Latest (although I guess with the extra volume of material with all the streams now, that's hard to do).

I didn't know it was turning users egotistical, but I guess that's another problem too.

I meant followers of users. Following streams for the sake of seeing different kinds of content makes some sense (in the context of imgflip being whack now).
