The concept of Left and right only serves to create division. Voting based upon the lines of Political parties doesn't........serve to accurately enact the will of the people.
By allowing individual representatives to pursue outcomes that best represent their constituients without having to vote along party lines. And outlawing all forms of lobbying that involve monies for influence. We would all be better represented.
This method would remove Partisanship as a method of altering and approving resolutions and the same Non Partisan voting would apply to all houses. Only the representatives will decide how they vote taking into account the desires of their constituents. Any representatives who dont serve their constituents well will be voted out.
The only other question at this time is how to elect a president. This could be done as a seperate vote based upon a pool of self nominated individuals derived from sitting elected members from any house of government and their voting record would be the primary means by which they will be evaluated for President. If they do contrarian actions in their private lives then this is fair game in the presidential race. This new president could then be chosen in an offset election held say 2 years after the first elections for these new representatives and could hold the office for a maximum number of terms? with 4 years as a term and the last President from the old system would serve as President for an additional 2 years until the new system had reached the time of electing under the new system.
All costs of electing representatives and the President would be borne by the taxpayer and taxpayer funding should be provided up to a maximum amount for representatives and the Presidential advertising campaigns. No direct donations to campaigns from individuals or corporations, individuals can make their own material but with limitations.
Also, should it be compulsory or non to vote. Making it compulsory for registered voters without fines for non compliance would make sense on the side of preperation of ballot materials (i.e knowing how many to print of ballots) but I suspect non compulsory voting would probably win over still.
Anyways that's just what I was thinking. Anyone who has time feel free to comment constructively if you could.
