Clearly a photograph of an area that is low lying and prone to flooding. Hence the raised buildings, storage silos, roads and visible higher ground in the distance. Not to mention that it is a valley or low land geographically with the hills at rear.
Probability low that Carbon Dioxide has anything to do with situation depicted and implyed in the meme.

[image deleted]Photo is from the record flooding this year in the US Midwest.

Nobody builds infrastructure where they expect it to be destroyed by flooding. But there was unprecedented destruction. Part of a pattern of extreme weather catastrophes around the world. Like Australia now.

What do you mean, Like Australia now? The fires? You look into fire their and it has always been a part of the country and well documented for over 200 years. With many variety of plant life only germinating once fire has passed through. Aboriginals used to set fire to the land on purpose to mitigate its damage and ensure the cycle of things continued albeit in their favor.
I would say the California fires are more out of tune in general but a little better land management would have mitigated those horrors.

Are there fires in Australia this year? I was referring to the Angry Summer of 2012-13 and the decimation of the 7000-year-old Great Barrier Reef in 2016. So they have fire now. Good thing the Aborigines have a ready explanation for this latest disaster. Do you think the average Aussie is starting to believe the scientists were right when they started predicting this stuff 55 years ago?

Yes summer in southern hemisphere is now, so a lot of fires being shown on news.

" Like Australia now" you wrote so I assumed you meant presently not summer 2012/13 and that you were referring to fires. Yes there are many major fires from past written about i'm not familiar with everyone of them. One I recall is referred to as Ash Wednesday fires and then I think on the Friday of same week another even larger fire begins.
Major life and property affecting fires are likely to increase as development of cities and their suburbia further encroaches on native bushland, tree plantations. In Australia wildfire is a constant issue and has been since settlement. If you look into fires in Australia the chances of a fire causing loss of life and property are very high, perpetually. It is unlikely that there would /will ever be a summer without losses at all levels.
Hahaha, no unfortunately the Aborigines are not allowed to start controlled fires anymore although I doubt too many alive today have been taught this practice even if they were allowed to do it.
The U.N recently reported that wildfires have decreased globally, which is interesting.
Also I heard good news on Barrier reef was that the Coral was renewing but not sure if it has recovered to prior state.
I would say I cant speak for Aussies but people all over generally are that. The younger you are the more likely you accept what they are telling. The older you become the more sceptical you become of things and requirements for more proof are necessary.
Myself, I dont think taxing it will solve a thing. Better to educate people in the areas of reuse, recycling and reduction of all consumed things. Consumption and waste produced are what is damaging the environment. There are many people who are good role models for the protection of the environment. They just aren't the celebs pushed on us to sell it. The ones who want us individuals to believe climate change is real are the ones who hope for taxation.
Make the changes in yourself and lead by example.
I always ask people interested in the environment this, "have you seen suspiciousobservers" they are about 400000 people now I think. Very interesting to me and worth an open ear if you have one and a little time.

Yes, no shortage of alternative science-free explanations for each of the countless pieces of evidence. But in totality, there is one big explanation and it becomes more certain with each passing year.

This campaign against climate science has never been about convincing scientists. They know you are full of it. But you can confuse the average guy into thinking there is a lot of uncertainty when there really isn't. That is, until reality is a 300 pound gorilla in his living room. We told them it was going to get hotter and it did. We told them they wouldn't like it and they don't. Your after-the-fact tale of aboriginal fire suppression techniques doesn't explain what is a global phenomenon. Or did the Aborigines used to take care of Siberia too?

Well like I said, lets stop trying to convince everyone as to the why and just start doing the things we know will help the environment. The changes can start to happen immediately with or without anybody needing to believe in the why the climate changes or the need for enslaving everybody further.
You sound like you have no idea about Australian Aboriginal culture and its practices but thats ok. I didnt mention them for any reason other than that they knew stuff 1000's of years ago which is relevant to today.
Good luck convincing people with the story, real or not I dont see it as an effective means of bringing change. And the delay in implementing anything is already too long winded if I was to believe alarmists.
However, altering the way we use everything definitely will bring environmental change if only in cleanliness and potentially stop such extreme climate change from being any issue if it is happening . Until there is comprises there will be little chance of agreement except by force.
