The day before Lent, fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, all based on the same idea. Eat, drink, be merry for tomorrow (Ash Wednesday) we fast.

Well some people don't realize the penance is supposed to be a free will offering an act of love to God. It's not something that should be forced from us, that makes us bitter. It's ok to still do things you love (except sin of course) even during Lent. Also did you know Sunday doesn't count? 40 days only includes Monday-Saturday.

No,I did not know that Sunday didn't count.We were all confirmed early,me at age 7, so no meat on fridays,and I didn't know that the sunday rule existed

Yeah I need to get back to meatless Friday. It's meant to help us remember Christ who died on the cross on Friday
