Just "companies" or are all riders "complicit"?

I'm giving people the benefit of the doubt; generally people who use Uber or Lyft are unaware of what Uber and Lyft do. Companies that switch their travel system to using Uber or Lyft (and in many cases, it becomes your only choice) do so with their eyes wide open - they know what is going on, and they don't care. Making next quarter's numbers are all that matters. Capitalism at its finest; elevate the 1% on the dead bodies of the masses.

It's a shame a hater of capitalism has convinced you of that. I'd try looking a further than your professor for examples of the "1% elevated on the dead bodies of the masses". Nope, not even close.

Self driving vehicles will replace all driving jobs soon so who cares

In the meantime, maybe the creator of this meme should start a ride sharing company that doesn't exploit its workers? That way we can all abandon the evil that is Uber and Lyft and take the high road in rides provided by Super Awesome Fictional Escorts...SAFE for short. Get there SAFE! Marked SAFE from "exploitation" and "detriment to society". I'm starting to convince myself this is a good idea!

I don't doubt that some form of self-driving vehicles will begin replacing some "driving jobs" but speaking in absolutes is always dangerous. ALL? meh...i highly doubt that. I wouldn't even say most.
