If there was a "smoking gun" his prints aren't on it, there's no residue on his hands and no one saw him shoot it. They just heard second hand that he did. If there was actual actionable evidence against him the articles of impeachment would have been filed already. I'm not the biggest fan of the fella but all I've seen is mud thrown at a wall in hopes that something, anything, sticks.
