Occult is not what people think it is. It's nothing evil and demonic (although it can be). It's derived from Latin 'occultare', which means "hidden". It's simply hidden knowledge. A guy called Mark Passio explained everything very clearly in his presentation titled "De-mystifying the Occult". You can view it for free on YouTube.
