What is the difference between eisegesis [ahy’ si jee’ sis] and exegesis [ek’ si jee’ sis]? Eisegesis is reading what you want the Bible to say, into the Scripture. "Exe" is where we get the word, "exit,” with exegesis meaning, Scripture speaks (exits) out to us to let us know the truth we are supposed to believe and understand about all of life. The exegetical approach to the Bible is where we let it speak out to us to define what is true. We do not read into it!
