Got screwed by a auto dealership once. Had I known then what I know now I would have f**ked them back them by going to the AG office. But young and dumb, I lived with it.

Also got screwed once by Midas. I knew I needed work on my brakes and I took it to them as they were the "experts". They told me it was everything and would cost a ton. I was recently unemployed and sold the car to pay bills. The guy I sold it to put new pads on it and it was fine. As a result I walked for a couple of years to my new job five miles away. (Including in -17 degree weather)

Car salesmen are trained crooks, most of them. I remember test driving a car when I was young, it would have been my first car. The guy showing it was so smooth I found myself test driving it and in his office with pen in hand ready to sign papers before I knew what hit me. Lucky for me, (not the salesman) my dad was with me and talked me down, lol. He ended up finding one by the side of the road for like 1k and it lasted me 20 years with no issues. Best car ever.

Back story, I'm a mod of a Facebook group for moms of toddlers about 300 members. Usually I vett the people coming in but i was lazy this time. I recently got a member request from a lady who immediately messaged me telling me her plight of trying to escape an abusive relationship. She only had 6$ to her name, had to get herself and her 4 children out of the state before her boyfriend got out of jail, etc. etc. So I messaged her back saying I can't give any money but would refer her to shelters and services that may be able to help her. I checked her profile she sent me pictures, even a photo of the court restraining order for the boyfriend so I thought it was legit. Upon asking the rest of the group for advice one member said she had actually donated $80 to a fundraiser for this very person in another group and the story, pictures everything was word for word what I had been told. So when I asked the lady what happened to the $800 that had been given her just this month no response. So now I feel stupid. I need to know how to report her or what I can do to help others not be taken advantage of.
