University professors vote conservative routinely. What you mean is that they don't vote for the nuts-off crazy people that YOU think should be normalized. And that's not because they're necessarily liberal - it's because they're not dumb.

Alright. Bring it up. Let's take a look at this data.

If you ran the study on business colleges, science and technical schools, and all-round universities, you'll get a very different result. I'll tell you that for nothing because if there's one thing I know, it's academia.

All this really proves is that you don't see a lot of Republicans in liberal arts fields, and is that really a surprise when Republicanism has been so openly hostile to liberal arts fields?

It is a better article. It also doesn't really support your point, if you keep reading it. I especially like this bit.

"It is unclear why elite research universities are unchanged" No it isn't; these professors tend to be wealthier and steeped in prestige and - yes, sorry - privileged, so their politics reflects that. I WISH that all the professors I've met were uniformly liberal people but the bottom line is that they're really not.

And the article goes on to say that. When women and minorities had to fight so hard against conservative institutions to become professors, it's going to wear down their enthusiasm for conservatism generally and that's going to impact the numbers; but rather than moan about diversity, conservatism can fix that problem by being more supportive of women and minorities moving into the professions which even today it struggles with at the best of times.

Education is certainly moving leftward, that's for sure.
