What's a democracy?

Mob rule.

Do you not know or are you trying to pussyfoot around the part where you've got a nonsense definition of democracy that intentionally denies that a representational republic is, by all commonly understood definitions, a form of democracy?

A republic is a republic, a democracy is a democracy. If the US was a democracy, Hillary Clinton would be president.

A republic means there's no monarchy or emperor. A democracy just means that the government is elected by citizenry vote rather than appointed by a ruling nobility.

Notice that a democracy doesn't necessarily have to be a strict popular vote.

So whoever told you that the USA was a republic but not a democracy was lying to you. It's both.

A democracy is majority rule, it's popular vote. America has an electoral college so that isn't possible. Just because there's still a vote by the citizens of the country to decide, doesn't mean it's a democracy.

Just because they're similar, doesn't make them the same. You're trying to make it out to be some blanket statement, it isn't how it works.

No, it's not. Britain has a democracy; their prime minister is not a majority vote. Israel has a democracy; their prime minister is often elected on 20-30% of the vote. Throughout history, democracy has been used to describe places where you do not need a 50% popular vote to rule. You are wrong. You are conflating one method of counting elections with an entire class of government structure. You have been lied to.
