Folks were ever forced to have sex unless they were sex slaves, which the majority of societies in the past didn’t have. “Straight” does‘t necessarily imply that one has to be of opposite sex; it just means that one’s sexual orientation is traditionally and biologically accepted.

Used to be if a guy didn't get married or have a girlfriend people assumed that something was wrong with them and pressured them into heteronormative behavior. They could also have decimation from people assuming that they are gay.

There are plenty of old people who are still unmarried and aren’t ridiculed. What about clergy? Long-serving veterans? And even if it wasn’t accepted in the past, acceptance to asexuality is still different from that of homosexuality & bisexuality because it didn’t require a movement. There are also right-wing (likely anti-queer) anti-marriage organizations like MGTOW.

I have plenty of friends who aren’t interested in sex, and they’re not ostracized for that. People aren’t speaking up on asexuality because it was never an issue in the past. There’s nothing barbaric that asexuals are known for, while most heterosexnormative people are disgusted by homosexual sex, and likewise, most cisgendernormative people are disgusted by the idea of cross dressing & genital removal.

Asexual people can be presumed gay very easily and it used to be something that people got ostracized for in the past and the number of people speaking up on that has nothing to do it happening, after all in some counties they do nor speak up about mistreatment of homosexuals and throw them from roofs..

Assuming that an asexual is homosexual is like assuming a heterosexual is bisexual. Being single by choice has always been a heterosexnormative role.

Even if that’s the definition, and if I got the definition wrong, I meant that asexuals are not queer. If your definition is correct, then I guess asexuals are neither, as some simply describe asexuality as a lack of sexual orientation.
