It better to wait until the calf gets it's first milk, and after that you can wait a while for the calf to be at the age of weaning, or feed it formula. Doubt megacorp cares much though.

So, you mean take him or her away from his or her mother at a later age? Does this justify taking them away, still? Wouldn't the cow and calf have built up an even stronger bond, by this point? Also, does it justify forcing the cow pregnant, through what is, arguably, a very invasive procedure, in order to get the milk in the first place? Doesn't this show that milk is for calves and not for humans?

LOL, cows get weaned by nature. You do not need to separate them you just need to get the cow to the point that it doesn't need to drink milk. Also getting a cow pregnant is as easy as placing them in the same place as a bull. It happens in nature just fine.
