I am usually right on most of my comments, even though I am technically ind. But Co2 emissions are on the rise and can be trouble much like cfc's were bad for the ozone so we fixed it.
The problem is not the USA as much as it is China and Especially India. India has a population boom and will surpass China in population in a decade. All these ppl need places to live and most hi rises are made of Concrete . The manufacturing of concrete produces tons of Co2 emissions .
My whole family is full of electricians. I don't do much on the solar end (mostly new construction) but have pals who do. The avg single home can save about 30-40$ a month by installing panels. It all depends on KWH rate in your area , sunlight in area etc.
Are they cost effective? Yes and No, too many variables but for the most part they are.
The more ppl use them, the more the cost will come down (mass production)
Now the whole SOLYNDRA scandal kinda f**ked things up for the USA. Most of the panels are chinesse made and the quality of anything they make is meh..
But are they worth it? Kinda Yes..
My Brother and I were going to put them on my parents house but they have a lot of big old trees surrounding the house and they are the neighbors trees. Trees block some of the light and worse they drop branches and break the panels..
In areas such as cities with many row homes (town homes) they can be an advantage.
Too bad most city politicians are corrupt and will mess that up.
