No. There has been a rash of uninspired people posting begging memes for upvotes recently. This is part of the backlash against it. You can always click on the posters name and view their profile and you will see Dr.Strangmeme is a popular memer that has many super funny memes.
I personally don't mind people making memes begging for upvotes as long as they make me laugh, but so many lately just beg and that is what this is about. But I can't speak for the rest, but I think the backlash is being taken too far. On a public site like this you have the option of ignoring memes you don't like. :)
