And then those same people wonder why no one upvotes or even looks at their memes.

I'm new here, but I already know meme site etiquette. At least it works for this site from what I can tell. I upvote everything I comment on, including memes that don't make sense to me.

Same here...I don't get to comment on others' memes as much as I used to because what little time I spend on here nowadays, I spend answering my own notifications...I get quite a few most days.

Some people don't care and that is certainly their right...there's no rule that says you HAVE to upvote anything...so it's all good.
