What the flip even happened in the comments? Can’t we have an honest discussion without saying that the other side is offended or implying that they are stupid? (I’m saying that to myself as much as I’m saying it to you).

You've been told this several times now: power of the purse is handled by Congress. A national emergency does not get round that.

So far throughout history, Congress has been happy to let the President spend money in response to emergencies. But that was because they were actual emergencies. And it was still at Congress' discretion, every time.

I seriously don’t understand the mindset that some people have. Instead of doing a small bit of research, they just eat up whatever someone tells them without a second thought. Used to have it, but I don’t anymore, and I still don’t understand it. News flash: Donald Trump is not the smartest person there is.

There is a reason for it - it's all carefully calculated, and it's quite a rabbit hole. There's no short way of describing it, but in a massively simplistic way, it's almost not important to them who is smart and who isn't - in fact, their methods work better if they aren't smart. It's more about demeaning the people they're arguing with, so that in a superficial way they can make it look like the smarter people aren't so smart afterall - and then their hairbrained arguments gain traction because there's nobody around anymore to be taken seriously when we say this is insane.

Here’s the paragraph I was talking about though.

And somehow this isn’t part of the US Constitution to these people.

TL;DR, George Carlin was right. Don’t argue with idiots. I may have Autism, but I’m not an idiot, I, and indeed you and most other sane people, know when to end the argument.

That's the thing though - we don't. Well, WE do, but a lot of clever people can't help themselves. They think "THIS time they have to listen to the facts".
