Some celebrities are pissed at Smollett, not because he did this horrid thing, but because it sets them back with their Trump bashing and supposedly gives Trump more ammo. I was reading tweets by celebrities and you'd be surprised at their deflecting.
But most are condemning it. Mostly because they don't want their fingerprints on this story.
