President Trump is pressuring the Tennessee Valley Authority not to close an obsolete coal-fired power plant at its Paradise Fossil Plant in Kentucky. Paradise 3 has the distinction of relying on coal from Murray Energy, the largest coal mining company in the United States. That company’s chief executive, Robert Murray, donated $300,000 to Trump's campaign. Murry has pushed repeatedly for the bailout of coal and nuclear plants that Trump has encouraged. Murray also gave $1 million to a pro-Trump political action committee in 2018.
