In Budapest after the fall of the Iron Curtain, they took all the statues that were built under the Soviet regime glorifying the Soviet leaders and their military war heroes put them in a public park near the city square. They grew trees around the edge of the park so that the view of the statues was blocked off to most of the city, but citizens can visit the park any time to learn about that side of their history - it happened, it was awful but there's no point trying to erase it, yet there was no way that they were going to leave the statues in the plazas to serve their propaganda purposes either.
THAT'S how it's done.
But people like you don't advocate for that. You advocate for putting these statues in full view of the very communities the Confederacy sought to oppress. These statues are placed strategically to rub it in everyone's faces: the Confederate generals have a legacy in our community whether we like it or not.
And that's how we know that memes like this are insincere. You don't care about the history. It's the glorification of the icons, and that's all there is to it.
