The Master Equation

Sometimes it makes no sense what things make the front page. I've seen word for word caption for caption reposts and sometimes things that are not even amusing much less entertaining. A few months back a totally blank post made the front page. I've had posts on page two that get buried overnight somehow with a bunch of brand new posts on the front page.
The TL;DR explaination is that nobody knows

Update, I did post a meme the other day about 10pm and got more views that I typically would or perhaps it was a funny meme. Lol

I've had a post go front page and post another with a similar theme and have it go nowhere

It took me a couple months before I first hit the front page and now I haven't had a good post in a while.
Sometimes it's just sheer chance, I've seen people get their very first post onto the front page. I had one a couple weeks ago hit the front page that one of my coworkers captioned.
Hell, Thparky made the front page recently with a potato.
There really is no logic to what people will find appealing or not
