I hate to say it, but I downloaded it like you said, and I don't have anything but my laptop being practically taken over by Chrome!

It said GET IT NOW, free download. paint.net 4.1.5

I clicked on that, but I didn't get any paint.net app/proggie, and there is no icon on my desktop

Its changed since i downloaded 10 years ago i didn't know it but what you clicked on took you to another page where you had to choose again for the free or the paid here is the direct link it will download a zip file then you right click the zip file- click extract all and run the installer just like any other old school download.

i tested it it works.

when you extract all it will make another folder (not a zip folder) the installer will be in there. you know i can do this with my eyes closed but it sounds complicated when ya try to explain it :-)

Where on that page do I click? Oh wait. I just noticed the fine print that tells me to click the link to the right :-)

Thanks man I use (paint.net) it's free and very powerful! ill be glad to give you instructions how i do it if you like but still requires practice :-)

I love it, been using it for years. I keep threatening to learn GIMP but paint.net's just too easy! :p

@tokinjester343 yea i still have gimp installed but rarely use it i always go back to paint.net.
