Nixon pulled the US off the gold standard and made a deal with Saudi Arabia stating that they would only sell their oil for US Dollars in exchange for military equipment and protection from the US.

That deal is literally the ONLY thing that gives US currency any value.

The US dollar is backed by all the goods and services in our economy. and the Us now produces more oil than Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia doesnt have a monopoly and oil you bumbling fool. I know that Saudis are useful. But to say it would cause the US to fall apart and a world war is to suggest Saudis have a monopoly. Untrue.

Saudi's SELL the most oil. Compare and contrast the leading consumers to producers and tell me they don't have massive leverage. The only people that can sell nearly as much oil as them is Russia and that caused a commotion when Germany decided to buy from Russia.

Saudis sell to the western world. The western world buys American dollars so they can buy Saudi Oil. Skip the sale of American Dollars and the US has nothing to validate our currency.

Our currency wont have a reference for the rest of the world. Everybody can compare their currency to ours by saying a barrel of oil costs X amount of our currency and Y amount of dollars. Therefore, if a ton of Steel costs W of our currency it should cost Z American dollars.

Getting rid of that would cause chaos that no government wants to deal with. Hyper inflation could set in. Other countries would pounce on us and crush us through dirty trade. America would be in a crisis the likes of which it has never seen. War would be our only way out without allowing the US's citizens to have to suffer in poverty for a few years before the government could figure a way out of the shit show.

Our economy or dollar isnt based only on oil or Saudi oil, like theirs is. Our dollar is validated by our WHOLE ECONOMY. not just saudi oil. Our petrolium imports are at a 35 year low because of reliance on domestic oil. We get more oil from Canada than the Saudis.

It's not about them selling to us. It's about them selling to Everyone Else.
