Tariffs are a tax on consumers.
So either way taxes are going up.

You create incentive for the return of factories. One good way would be to get the liberals on board so both sides can work together. Tariffs are a tax on consumers, but a carbon tax would be much worse ( prices of EVERYTHING would go up ). We need to bring back most factories and automate them, which would be cheaper than Chinese labor and at least bring tech jobs ( and other jobs like janitors etc. ).

Prices on everything will go up with the tariffs as well. Because the domestic producers will have less competition and can raise their prices.
The carbon tax will have the benefit of improving the environment whereas the tariffs will slow the worldwide economy

bringing back factories from China will cut carbon alot more than carbon taxes. You institute carbon taxes without tariffs? there will be a huge flight to China and other 3rd world countries. The only way Carbon Taxes work without job flight from the US would be tariffs. Why not just use tariffs for what we want?

I dont know why u dont think the factories wont come back when the tariffs make it more expensive to make stuff outside of the United States ( do you understand how tariffs work?). Plus, u give all business incentives - like the Democrats paid Amazon to build in NYC - to come back. All this outsourcing is just getting in the way of the nature order of tech evolution. Our companies would have already built automated factories by now if it wasn't for the cheap labor of China

I dont think the price of grandmas heating bill in the winter is going up because of Chinese Tariffs. At least not as much as it would under a Carbon Tax. Just the shipping across the Pacific alone doubles or triples the carbon footprint of a product. Also, Plasltic island? thats 80% China. Exxon Mobile is supporting a carbon tax. Wallstreet just wants Americans to not only pick up the tab to rebuild their old plants, but make a profit doing it. WAKE UP!

The USA has the world's largest deposits of natural gas. We basically have 2 Saudi Arabia's worth of natural gas.

Natural gas would still be taxed under a Carbon Tax, so i don't know what your point. is.

On the other hand, they wouldn't be taxes under tariffs.
