Then I wonder why do we refer to all people as the human race?

It's fine, it's just that "race" has no definition. (In fact, the only definition of "species" is that they can produce viable offspring together. So theoretically humans could not all share the same set of ancestors; as long as they can have fertile children you're good)

Race is a word so it has a definition

Not in biology, only in fuzzy wuzzy literature

Race isn't a scientific term; there are better hobbies you know

Better hobbies than racing?
Define for me what a scientific term is and how that differs from a regular (non scientific) term.

So in actual science, there are kingdoms, phyla, classes, orders, families, geni, species, subspecies, breeds, strains, varieties---no races. "Race" means nothing. It's a poetical-rhetorical device, pure emotion and hysteria, nothing more

On my stream this comment is directly above one from a user that gave me a biological definition of race. Curious.
Biology
a population within a species that is distinct in some way, especially a subspecies.
- Classifying as a species (or subspecies) is handy for scientific research and study, but it's not necessarily constant.
(In nontechnical use) each of the major divisions of living creatures.
"a member of the human race"
Literary
a group of people descended from a common ancestor.
- We have a common ancestor.

I see what you are saying. I live in the USA. Are we all part of the same ethnicity because we are all Americans? Maybe we should also not use the term ethnicist.
