**Actual exploding stars are pretty cool! And 2 of them occurred in our galaxy since 2016! Super-novae happen more often than you'd think...we just can'tpredict when and where they happen.
** Around the middle of October, all 5 naked-eye planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury) will be visible in the same area of the sky. They're kinda there right now, but in mid-October they'll be clumped a little closer together.
* * 3 comets should appear in the fall and winter months. There is the possibility that one of them, 46P/Wirtanen, may become bright enough to be seen without binoculars!
* * On April 2024 eastern North America will experience another TOTAL solare clipse (with two annular eclipses happening between now and then. An annular eclipse is where the moon is NOT big enough to totally obscure the sun, and you get a bright ring of light). During a total eclipse, in the 2-3 minutes of absolute totality, you can actually look at the sun AND SEE THE SUNS ATMOSPHERE (CORONA)! How cool is THAT?
And all this is in the space of a mere 8 years. Who knows what we'll see in 2019???
