Traveller and Space Opera were the only two boxed sci-fi rpgs listed in the Sears Christmas Catalog in 1983 besides Star Frontiers. I picked Traveler. I always wondered about the people who picked Space Opera and how that went... And yeah in Traveller when rolling your characters background you could be crippled or even DIE before you ever played.
