The first frog you used there is "PePe" the frog, which is an iconic white nationalist/neo nazi cartoon figure. Google "nazi frog" in Google images and or look up "the origins of PePe the frog". I avoid using any PePe images.
That image was wasn't eve "co-opted" by Neo Nazis. People from 4chan saw pepe being used by "normies" (people outside of their groups) and they began to make Pepe images of all kinds of distasteful and improper styles and putting those images out into the "public" of the internets. They did this to cause people to associate Pepe with what you said, "an iconic white nationalist/neo nazi cartoon figure," so "normies" (people outside of the 4chan/pepe groups) would stop using it! And it worked!
"Kekestainis" and 4chaners are not racists they are TROLLS and they are very good at it. Some of their trolling has gotten mainstream media attention like Pepe and the "OK hand gesture is a 'white power' symbol. These two, at least have been spoken of by the media!
Unfortunately, because so many people were trolled by it, believed it, and the media reported it as truth, actual racists and Neo Nazis have started using those visual symbols because of the notoriety and the "manufactured cultural association."
The point of this meme was not to troll anyone, but I will use Pepe to troll people now because so many do believe the wrong thing about it. Pepe is now the universal symbol of internet trolling right along with Troll Face Rage Comic.
Pro Tip: just because the internet says something doesn't mean it's true.
