But the North fought with the South for the rights of the dark skinned people. While the British used Australia as a penal colony where the settlers were in conflict with the dark skinned people.

Technically speaking Lincoln was in support of creating a colony in south Africa to send the "Blacks" to. Also the emancipation proclamation wasn't issued until it was overwhelmingly supported by his party, and it technically didn't free any slaves since it only freed the southern slaves (the ones that he had no actual power to free) and ignored all the slaves in the north. Boy do I want to send your incompetent ass to some penal colony...Damnit! I wish I owned an island continent full of plants, animals and environments literally evolved to kill you. (Also that personal attack bit is just a joke...That stuff about Lincoln is true though, look it up)

Second Piece of Evidence: Both the south and Australia have strong accents that were derived from their northern brethren. Additionally both the flags from The South and Australia borrowed elements from their respective mother countries (this regarding the south as an independent country as the Confederacy)

And to branch off of that, both Australia and the South attempted to seperate themselves from their respective mother countries (the United Kingdoms and the Union respectively). The only difference being one had a civil war that ultimately failed, and the other asked politely and was granted their freedom as an independent nation. Also they both have deadly snakes, spiders and crocodiles.

Not to mention the South is also home to Gila monsters, one of only two known venomous lizards, while Australian waters are known for harbouring a species of box Jelly-fish (Chironex fleckeri) which is reputedly the most venomous animal in the world.
On the other hand the North is where you're more likely to encounter grizzly bears.

Also there is a massive hole in the Ozone layer right above Australia, meaning that they are exposed to more harmful UV radiation and therefore more likely to develop skin cancer
