Even without the near certainty of politics being interjected into the ceremony, the kinds of movies I like to watch are seldom even nominated for Oscars, let alone win them, except sometimes in lower-profile categories like sound editing. For example, did Bruce Willis get a nod for Best Actor in Die Hard, or Alan Rickman for Best Supporting Actor? Hell no.

Alan Rickman is one of my favorite actors and I was sad when he died so expectantly.

I've watched one Oscars in my entire lifetime and that was only because the girl I was dating at the time watched it religiously and so did her entire family. Those awards shows are nothing but self glorification of narcissistic a-holes who like to give each other pats on the back and bj's.
