The irony of the matter is I wasted that third submission on this meme! XD

Just a fyi, if you only use one submission on a day, you will temporarily go back to two available submissions the next day. If you always submit 2, 3 (or zero) you should have 3 available the next day. That has always been the case for me since I reached three submissions.

How does that happen, 1000 comments?

From what I've heard and observed, everything on imgflip is driven by an algorithm. I've heard users have gotten a third submission as soon as 6k points, I think but not sure I got mine at 30k. Factors that are probably inputs are amount upvotes/downvotes given, the ratio of those, how often you use both of the two submissions you start out with, etc.

I'm not heavy on the downvotes. I'm less than 500 in the comments department. I think I'll step up my production toward 1000 and report back if that works.

I was pretty psyched when I got my third, but it can be hard for me sometimes to come up with three submissions I'm happy with. I try to always use at least two of them on a given day when I'm in a submitting mood.

My 1000 comments idea wan't it either.
