Jesus said to the Twelve: "Do not go to the Gentiles, or even the Samaritans. Your mission is to reach the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matt. 10:5-6); Proselytizing non-Jews was not on the agenda of the historical Jesus. His goal was to radicalize and renew his own religious community. The so-called "Great Commission" did not come from Jesus. It was created by the early church several generations later.
