If the Civil War ended with nukes

There might be a novel here. Maybe even a trilogy...

Have you read the alternative history of the civil war by Harry Turtledove? There are actually two. One is a stand alone novel called “Guns of the South”. The other is a long series of books which are much darker.

I just read into one of the series-couldn't tell you which one-but Turtledove isn't my kind of storyteller. As a boy I was fascinated by an extended magazine article speculating about the outcome of a Union defeat at Gettysburg (if Chamberlin's mob had been turned on Little Round Top instead of counter attacking & routing the Rebels). Needless to say the author saw Congress suing for peace as General Lee destroyed Meade and sacked the capitol. Born in 1950 to a Civil War history buff I was 13 on the centennial of the battle. And over time we visited many of the battlefields.
