I'm a genXer, we had our own shit. Now I'm all growed up, and a couple of my cousins are hipsters. They tried to deny it till I showed them their own wedding pictures. Good laugh. Nobody likes labels, cuz they're givin to you, hippies are the rich pricks all set up nicely now the total anthesis of their youth, then the yuppies and dinks. It's good for us all as we change and try to identify ourselves, init of itself becomes a "trend". I shudder to think what comes next, entitlement is not fairing well for our future societies, yet we genXers, did it to ourselves. Just a thought.

I guess the name of my generation is Y (I was born in the 80's), so I'll go with that for lack of a better term. I was doing fine in said decade, but when the 90's hit I started to go askew of things, and it's only gotten worse since.... or did they go askew of me? Labels and identification have gotten crazy, like "I'm Christian. I'm agnostic. I'm straight. I'm gay. I'm white. I'm black." etc. Am I making any sense? lol

Yeah, you make sense. I bin tryin to figure out how I fit in for the last 30 years or so. Born in 70. A musician, artist, construction worker, shit I'm half the village people. I took to a few trends growing up, then realised how silly I was lookin like everybody else when I'm like nobody else. I even have skinny jeans and can pull it off, but it was back in 85 when we all wore skinny jeans, so now I feel like I'm tryna be15 again, but it's the look. All good bud... it was my parents fault too, born in the late fourtys n early fifties. I was spanked lots, learned respect. That is lost on todays youth.

Not trying to call either of you out, but I've known a number of people who are from that same era and I'm sure were spanked..... but they still seem to lack respect and/or 'common' courtesy.

I was born in 1959. When we were growing up we didn't have an elf on a shelf. We had a belt on a hook. When I was growing up in the 70's I was so far over to the political right wing you wouldn't be able to see me. Not so much so when my kids were growing up in the 80's and 90's. Now that they're adults and my wife and I are considered senior citizens according to AARP I'm most certainly a conservative. I didn't want to change, but your priorities definitely do as you get older. Even if you labeled yourself something now, in ten years it'll change again. That's what humans do I suppose. Always changing.
