When the melt down hit in '08, I had flashbacks to the 80s when so many S&Ls went under. Since then, I've been following the antics of such banks as BofA, Wells-Fargo, Citibank, and Chase. Actual fraud, some have been charged with racketeering. I played it smart, pulled all my cash out of the banks and put it in a credit union years before the meltdown. I saw a problem when banks started charging a check cashing fee on checks drawn on their bank to non-customers. Something told me they were in trouble back then.
