back in the day, Mom played a wide variety of music in the house. Jazz, blues, swing, classical, country and western, bluegrass, as well as pop tunes. She loved listening to the Beatles as long as it was a studio recording. Hated the screaming from the fans.

Having older siblings helped as well. My youngest sister invested all of her babysitting money in to records of that era. Remember Tommy Rowe singing Sweet Pea?

No sorry. I was in England until I was 10 and then moved to Oz, so no exposure to a lot of American artists back then.

surely you listened to the BeeGees, and a decade later, Olivia Newton John. As for English bands, they were all the rage in the states: dubbed the British invasion. Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, and The Rolling Stones come immediately to mind.

Yep, we had that all on TV and radio, but in the early 70's my sister's friend lent us ELP's first & Fragile by Yes, that literally altered my musical direction forthe rest of my life! Just listened to Fragile again the other night and it's like stepping back in a time machine!

because I've lived a stressed out life, these days, I prefer classical music. Couldn't tell you a thing about it, other than it helps with the stress
