I don't think you need to be a real man to figure that out. What kind of a real man goes around going, "Tweet, Tweet" like a fricking chickadee or tufted titmouse or some other stupid little bird, fer chrissake?

Why wouldn't you though? If you were president and faced a unapologetic partisan media wouldn't it behoove you to take your message straight to the people and avoid the media altogether. The last president had the media fawning over him and still he used social media to advance his message, albeit in a more articulate way. Twitter and it's ilk are the current medium for communication. Mr. Keillor is stuck in the last century. I don't like it either, but that ship has sailed.

The key word you used there is 'articulate.' Call me a misogynist dickwad if you want, but Drumph's tweets sound like those of a tres chic 15 year old with PMS who just lost her boyfriend to the least attractive girl in class. Keilor may be stuck in the last century, 45 is stuck in early pubescence. He chips away at what little credibility he has left with every Tweet, and one of the adults in his cadre should find a way to shut his Twitter account down ASAP.

And his tweets don't help him avoid the media, they make him the target of even more derision, both on Twitter and and in the rest of the more traditional media outlets as well. Have you ever read some of the comments on his Twitter feed? I'd expect the Secret Service to show up at my door if I made some of them.

And yet a poll last month of Trump and Clinton voters showed that if the election were held now Trump would win again despite what is being reported. Celebrities like Keilor have lost touch with the common man and operate in an echo chamber where to paraphrase Pauline Kael, "I don't know how Trump won, I don't know anyone who voted for him". I would not call you a misogynist dickwad, but I think Keilor may be. PS. If you hear he's looking for work, I need someone to rake my leaves.

I did a little research, and I did find that poll you talked about. I also found a slightly older Gallup poll that said if he ran again at that time, he'd only get 99 electoral votes. The opinions of the political "experts" seem to be all over the map on the question, so it seems like conjecture either way. But lets say for arguments sake you are right. Unlike how many pushups you can do, or how well you can paint a still life of a landscape, IQ is basically something you are born with and it stays about the same over a lifetime, and if anything the dumbing down of America has quickened its pace in the last year, so I wouldn't be surprised if he would win if the election were held again today. You can't fix stupid...

If a stupid guy wins an election he's not supposed to, is he really stupid? Never confuse effort with results.

Just remember, you are arguing with a guy who makes fart memes. As a coda to our little discussion I would like to wish you a Happy Holiday season, no matter how or what you celebrate. :)

Hey, someone has to make fart memes, why not you. :) As for your previous comment about stupid, I think his win was a combination of dumb luck and a perfect sh*tstorm of chaos in the world, voters who were frustrated and whipped up by right wing media, who knows? No civilization lasts forever, although I suppose you could say that China's has continued in pretty similar forms for at least a couple of millennia. And thank you for the holiday wishes, I hope you have a happy one as well. Mine will be a bit grim this year, my wife passed away somewhat unexpectedly in May, so I'm just hanging on by my fingernails at this point. I guess that's what is so disturbing about our current political chaos, its bad enough that the Death Star blew my personal Alderaan to bits, it would be nice to have some stability in the larger world to find comfort in.

I have been through a destabilizing time, although no where near as traumatic for me personally. When I look to the country, I believe that if we survived a civil war ( actually a war of secession) we can survive much. Liberty is messy and Democracy is the worst form of government, except for every other form. (Apologies to Churchill)

I do hope you are right. I became politically "woke" in high school during the Vietnam War so I remember Watergate, Iran-Contra and lots of similar events, and from my perspective, this is a much bigger crisis than any of those. Not just because Chuckles the Clown is now our president, but because of his very unbenign neglect of so much of the federal government. A very large number of important federal agencies don't even have anyone nominated to head them coming up on a year since his election. Those agencies can only operate for so long on day-to-day bureaucratic rote before they start to break down, imho.
