Sound, gain, reverb, echo, fuzz, wah fuzz, all different sounds for different songs. Thats just on the amps, look at all the pedals some of these guys have. I'm a drummer and dont get alot of options unless I went to electronic drums. If you truly appreciated music you might understand.

We all go deaf a little playing loud. Depending on the size of stage and venue, the amps are miked up, so they are actually listening on monitors infront of them, the volume stays the same and is controlled by a sound guy off stage. Adjusting the amp is purely for sound. Different amps create different sounds aswell. And the monitors are adjusted for what the player infront wants to hear, one guy may want more bass, less lead, more vocals, less tom toms, more kick and snare. But yes, we all go deaf a little more and more each time. What?...

I spent my 20's playing n touring, and working as roadie and stage hand for the bigger shows, and some studio work. Deaf in my left ear and hemeroids from using a leather drum throne. Good times, good times.

And it is a little 4 person band that just plays a few local bars and carnivals. It's a chance for the guys to blowvoff some steam and relax because this person upsets them all.

I get music and this is regarding a specific person in my boyfriend's band. It annoys them that he stops playing in the middle of a song to turn around and mess with the amp. He plays guitar as well as my bf, who never adjusts his amp the whole gig. So thank you for your sarcasm. It was something to get some laughs from the guys.
