Y U No Meme | IMG-FLIPPERS Y U NO SHARE BOOK! | image tagged in memes,y u no | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
To celebrate book #4 and 5's publishing, I'm running a promo on Amazon/Kindle all weekend to give away books #1, 2, and 3. It's about a fictional future collapse of the Pacific Northwest.

Even if you don't want to read them right this second, go grab them over the weekend so you can have them free. Cuz ya'll my buddies! Even though we don't always agree.

In Kindle, search for "PNW Affliction" and 1, 2, and 3 should be free for ya through the weekend. :-) Enjoy!

If anyone else here is an author, they should post their stuff too so we all can see!

Dude, that's awesome! I'll do another event in like... 90 days... that's how long it takes before they renew that event's option. :P I keep the price down though, the kindles are only $1.99 a piece. It's disgusting what most people price their stuff at. :(

thanks for the heads up! I've been looking for well over a month or two now trying to figure out places to talk about books...... but like, holy crap its next to impossible. You'd think it'd be an obvious thing. "Place to talk about books..."

Authors have TONS of places to bitch about how horrible their lives are, but nowhere to actually talk/share stories. Grrr. So, thanks!

Well I think it's because authors Bogart their ideas. I like writing fan fiction.
Readers are wary of newb authors who think they know how to worldbuild... Especially in a first chapter.

So hard to world-build first chapter.

Fan fiction sites are good. Once you have a shared favorite show/bookseries with enough source material, you can compare yourself to others using the same material.

Also, you can gain a grasp of characterization in this manner as well.

I once got critical acclaim for my depiction of a cranky intellectual... But I swear I wrote her as sassy. Whoops, lol.

That reminds me, I have to write chapter three, lol.

Be careful with the civilization collapse. You'll end up rewriting a different book. One book I skimmed suggested that the northeast would become the dominion of general electric, or something.

I'm writing one about the failed god Artemiss. He can't even hit the side of a barn door. Zero followers... Zero... LIVING followers.

Tons of us out there writing civ collapse books. Basically what we all do to avoid stepping on each other's toes, is we make the location super unique. If writers are more than 20-30 miles apart, they write completely different stories, even about the same areas. It's hilarious! And all the readers seem to love it.

Hmmm... But if they're closer than 20-30 miles... Does it end up being derivative? That would be an interesting culture-al idea: Proximity between authors leading to repetition.

Oh, I see. You mean, you assume the story is personal? Of the self? Indeed, write what you know... But if you want to really be edgey, write what you want to know. If you don't feel the adventure, then you're going to end up being a scoutmaster, showing off all the local fauna?

Super unique location... Yes that woods be nessisary. <--- (lol)

I'm going with oasis hopping across the desert. It's an old Egyptian concept about rebuilding the kingdom. The oasis is a metaphor for a refugee from the world.

Civilization collapse has been done alot, and civilization building (rising to become king, has been done a lot), so I'm writing both, and it's a race against the clock, because fans love countdowns, lol.

That's the reality of the current world, and will be for sometime, of not, forever, because of how high the tower of technology looms over our hunter-gather ancestors.

/end cloud-gazing rant/

I'm curious about your writing. I don't have a kindle. I'll read the first 20 pages if you have a hyperlink. I'd learn something.

Book? I prefer to call it novella. It makes it sound less daunting. It's all about imaging. I can whip of 80 pages in a week, so it's way less scary.

All of mine are novellas also, so I know watcha mean. Two of them are over 40k words, which is heading towards novel, but not quite there. We'll call them stories ;)
