Allie Brosh created and copyrighted this artwork, so at the very least she deserves to have her website listed any time it is used.
Otherwise, websites with ad revenue make money from it, and she does not even get any credit or anyone visiting her original work.

You aren't even the creator of this, so why are you here whining about it? Are you and this supposed creator BFF's or something? Where is this girl who supposedly created the image? Why is she not here b!tching about it instead of you?

I am here advocating for the creator because I worry that the proliferation of credit-less copying will reduce the income stream for small-time artists & creators such that they no longer have time nor energy to create content. I certainly don't want the creators to have to waste their time fighting against illegal copies rather than creating more awesome content.

If you then continue scrolling down, you will see a copyright paragraph in the right-hand column; if you check out the Creative Commons license she used, you will see that it requires anyone using her images to give her credit. Therefore, using the image without giving credit is illegal, and also against the terms of imgflip.

I know that many people do not know the image is copyright -- that's why I try to educate. Once someone knows it is a copyrighted image, the right thing for them to do is to delete the image or follow the terms of the copyright.

Well, good luck on your little quest. I'll still use them and I don't have to give credit to anyone.

Are you suggesting that once something is online, it is legal for someone else to copy it for money-making purposes? Because it is not.
Just because it is easy to do something, does not make it legal.

Also, she probably wanted her blog to be popular, not her artwork with no credit given, and no way for people to know where it came from.

Making money is important, so the artist can buy food, clothing, shelter, ...
Supporting artists is important if we want them to continue to make art, rather than spending their time and energy doing something else.

Even if each digital copy is the same, I think the artist still has the 'original', in spirit, and as such, the original, can only be given with direct consent.

This is really philosophical, so yeah. I think you're more right than I am.
