Did you know that famous scene wasn't in the script? In fact it happened when Dustin Hoffman was nearly killed by a cabbie who was about to run him over. You can hear for a second that he steps out of his Ratzo voice and reverts to his normal voice...likely out of shock and surprise. The film crew didn't have a permit to film in NY but that didn't stop them so that scene was one of the most genuine in film history.
