Lol I once got a meme on front page without even trying

That's how it usually happens. The meme you don't expect to get there, will and the meme you think might, won't.

It isn't any particular user, but I have seen the memes that are created by random users that complain about their not getting any memes on the front page and that they only get a few upvotes at any given time. I have seen a few that even go as far as to blame Raydog for getting almost every meme he makes on the front page.

Of course, when I see a meme like this, I look at their profile to see if they have a legit argument and most of them don't. Most of them don't have a single comment and only have a couple dozen memes they submitted.

I have a feeling a lot of them are alts: they never reply and if you look at their posts, they seem to be a mixture of gamer memes, political memes, and "why don't I get upvotes" memes. Half the time, they don't reply. I'm half tempted to just downvote those memes and move on, but I've had enough success with other users that I don't.

You could be right and I down vote memes that break the imgflip rules. I started downvoting memes that complain about making the front page or other general complaints about not getting what they think they deserve.

The memes I just don't understand like cartoon characters that are almost naked, I also downvote. I don't understand the whole sexualization of cartoons and animals.

If I come across a meme that I don't understand (too many of them) I rarely downvote, especially if I I realize that they are genre driven. (Gamers, Anime, Sports) I DO downvote memes that are insulting and/or offensive. same with non-English memes, as that IS a TOS violation.

The sexualization of cartoons and animals? Porn parodies. The ones I've seen here (and even done) are closer to double entendres than actual filth. But then, humor is subjective.

I agree with your take on memes being subject to opinion, but the ones I downvote are the sexualiz6of cartoons and animals. I'll upvote a good sexy meme with attractive women all day long. Lol. Oh well, the whole complaining about not making the front page is just ridiculous, in my opinion.

You're right. I've only done that once, complained about page one. Had Charlie Brown dancing with a caption "That feeling you get when you see your meme heading to page one" second panel, Charlie Brown walking away depressed, "Page Three". A lot of people could relate to that, and it wound up being my second meme to make page two. Everyone has had those moments. Even if they've already been on Page one. But then, I wasn't a noob with only a handful of memes. When I WAS a noob, and finally decided to become active here, after months of using the site to make memes for a political page (I didn't share them here because I felt they weren't appropriate for a humor site) I noticed that I went from something like 200 points to 3000 in a matter of days. I posted a meme that said something like, I've gotten so many points and I don't know how, and at this point, I'm afraid to ask. Long time users commented on that, and doubled my points that day. What helped was I responded to everyone, took advice, and just kept on that path. again, not a complaint, but something that confused me. I was thankful and it showed, but still confused how I did it, cause I wanted to do it again. Well, you see how THAT worked out. LOL. You even commented that I'd been here since January (this was on my old account) so that the number of points I had wasn't that surprising. I'd only been active like a week or so, but it did confuse me. Now, when I see someone thankful for the points they've gotten, I comment and urge them. But the Y U No Upvote My Memes posts get my reply of Y U No Make Memes Worth Upvoting

Yours wasnt really complaining about it, though. The ones I'm talking about are those that demand they make the front page without the work.

Yes, that was the point. I see a lot of the non-complaining ones, too, and believe me, they get support. I've seen a lot of memes come along lately that seem to have the positive attitude, but they don't think we look at their profiles. Here's one from another user last week: https://imgflip.com/i/1r27rp I looked at his profile, and something told me it was someone that didn't care about the account. Well, you can see, a week has passed, and he hasn't replied to a single comment. He wasn't begging, but something told me it'd be a waste of time with him because he just doesn't seem to comment. Period.

And if you have put in some work, know that you will erase all of that work as soon as you start bitching about other users...

So true! I haven't had any user complain about me making the front page, but maybe I don't do it enough. Lol. I've seen the memes complain about it and complain about you and DashHopes. I downvote those memes.

One thing I've noticed about popular users is that they all have a "broader" sense of humor than most. My humor jumps all over the place and I think most people enjoy that about me...I don't get hung up on originality like some users that I won't name either...I post something if I think it will get some laughs...I don't care if I made it or not. I never claim something that isn't original as my own and when people ask, I tell them I didn't make it.

In the end, the community puts what it wants on the front page and no amount of crying is gonna change that.

When I first started I knew it wouldn't be easy. But just like with anything you really want to be good at and known for being good at it, I knew I would have to work hard. All this time that I've been on the site, I got agrivated one time, and commented some shit about a top scorer...sorry Raydog. After I got submissions on the front page, and saw that every top users submissions all start on the latest page, I realized that I have nothing to cry about. I'm glad I stayed with it. I made some friends and we have a blast.
