Gosh, that's a complicated set-up. When I homebrewed with a friend it was just pots on stoves, carboys, and bottles soaking in a beach solution in the bathtub.

Homebrewing is actually fairly easy. It just takes time. The only true rule is keep everything scrupulously sanitized, which isn't too difficult. But it's mostly waiting around. And drinking beer while you do it.

Had I known about home brewing when I was a kid, I would have started my own little home brewery. LOL.

It does take a lot of time. We haven't done any in about 20 years. We keep talking about it but his life is pretty busy and mine is mostly lazy.

Yeah. I probably should give it a try, but I have to be careful about my alcohol intake. I have an artificial heart valve, so, while they say I could bleed to death internally if I drink too much, I am allowed an occasional beer. So I look forward to my beer

Sounds like your valve is smart. ;)

Yes, I have a fine line to walk. Alcohol thins the blood while Green veggies thicken it. Besides alcohol being on my list of things I can't have, one of my faves, broccoli, is a no-no. Too thick blood will cause the valve to stick and a fatal heart attack. We had a long discussion. Like alcohol, I can have my green veggies in moderation. I thought for a moment and said, "since they cancel each other out, how about I have a beer when I eat broccoli." My wife didn't like the idea, because she knew I'd fan the blanket on her.

I like both, but I tend to drink by itself. Too much food interferes with my imbibing concentration.

I didn't actually do much in the way of drinking until I hit college. I think I drank to excess twice in high school. If I had learned to distill I might be dead now. :P

I got drunk more between the age of 16 and 21, but the minute I turned old enough to drink legally, the thrill was gone. I like the occasional drink, but haven't gotten drunk in over 20 years

I drank a lot more 20 years ago. The 1990s were my most wet era. I actually was relieved when I became 21 and didn't have to find ways to sneak it. It gave more structure to my drinking and gave it less temptation so I could manage it more. Nowadays I can take it or leave it.
