A lot of democrats and a lot of republicans and a lot of independents and a lot of non-aligned people get shot everyday. One reason that should support the SCOTUS decision about mental health exams prior to the purchase of a weapon. Had such been in place, Hodgkinson probably would not have been allowed a firearm. Oh, I'm sure that he could have gotten one on the black market, but then, guns aren't the only weapons available. Look at the damage Timothy McVeigh did with a rental truck and farm chemicals.

If the republicans blocked a gun control measure, it would be due to the amount of money that the NRA has put into the RNC coffers. If they choose to support the GOP in that manner, then it would be partisan. Me? believe it or not, I am pro-second amendment. Instead of blocking gun legislation, though, it would do the NRA more good to come up with a gun control policy that is constitutional, and, at the same time, practical.

Wade Michael Page targeted a religious order because he was wanted to kill some Muslims. Ooops. that was a Sikh temple he shot up, killing 6 members. But then, they were liberals, so that doesn't count, right?

Wouldn't hurt. Too many people here have touted how they don't need to know what they are talking about to argue about something. Take last election. The only thing I heard was the reason to vote for Hillary/Trump is because that candidate wasn't Trump/Hillary. I never heard a decent argument for either one of them.
