Was on a flight into Reno, Captain comes on the intercom to advise of trouble. When the Captain says their is 45 years of experience in the cockpit, trust us we're professionals, stay in your seat, fasten you lap belt tightly, don't get up for any reason, you know it's serious. On approach there was screaming and prayers, I comforted the woman next to me with a hand to hold, calm voice, a smile, eye contact and reassurance. That's the landing applause I remember:)
